A pair of quiet and empty rooms LP
Where To Now? 12 / UK / 2014
Recorded in February of 2014, no samples or synths used etc. While Low Voice was focused primarily on texture, Empty Rooms is meant as a collection of physical spaces. Objects and junk were collected/borrowed/stolen from wherever, sorted out into groups such that the sound of one object was complimentary or compatible with the other, etc. Objects were recorded in large rooms with hardwood flooring, my bedroom, bathrooms, garages etc. Some sounds were played dry through monitors into larger spaces and recorded from afar, the characteristics of the room manipulated and mixed with the original dry signal later. Natural reverbs mixed with artificial ones, etc. Contact recordings were granulated at random, then edited, re-granulated and so on. Some sections or elements are different each time they are rendered. The result is meant to establish images of spaces or rooms, containing objects in equal parts both recognizable and strange.
