Sirène LP (Clear vinyl)
Recorded Fields Editions 01 / UK / 2014
'Sirène' is the first major solo vinyl release of works by UK-based sound artist, Robert Curgenven. With particular focus on the physical and acoustic nuance of field recordings, organ and electronics, it features four pieces written, mixed, remixed and expanded between 2008 and 2014 at locations ranging from assorted churches in Cornwall, England, to various spots in his native Australia. It opens with the impending dread drones of an expanded and remixed pipe organ section composed in Trewartha, Cornwall and remixed in Melbourne, Australia with "moments" of microtonal dubplates and turntables to a deathly black drone mass, whilst 'Cornubia' follows with remixed results of an 8-channel diffusion. Distilling dynamically spaced guitar feedback and fan drone into a hovering mictotonal moire. Flipside, he presents an expanded version of the immersive, tempestuous 'Turner On The Mast', and resolves with the sedentary drone descent of 'Imperial Horizon (For Caliban)'.
