ARCHERS BY THE SEA
They Were Floating Over The Mountain, They Were Kings LP
La Station Radar 00 / FR / 2010
Magickal side of beautiful atmospheric drones and kosmische ambience by Vincent Caylet's Archers By The Sea. Since 2007 Caylet has recorded for a wealth of labels, including (but not limited to) Peasant Magik, Under The Spire and Blackest Rainbow, spreading his lushly psychedelic sound far and wide. He also records as V, The Pistil Cosmos and Monks Of Balhill. 'They Cut Rocks With A Knife In Their Hand' unfurls to a coastal breeze, tingling percussive devices shimmering in stereo while accordian-like drones organically grow from the centre all bathed in a watery light before 'Little Thrones And Rotten Ropes' goes inwards, somewhere more closed and peopled with glassy hi-end drones, billowing ambient shapes worthy of Celer and a ghostly trace of vocals. Album highlight 'Experience' is more majestic, a vastly spacious composition of subtly panned, shimmering keys and gently arcing, sustained strings reaching an apex of arresting ambient noise.
